Memorial Tattoo

My name is Sgt. William P Tufts i served from 2000 to 2004. One of my best friends and fellow devil dog was killed in action in Iraq. He was Sgt. Christian Williams. This is just a small way for me to pay my respects and always have him by my side. It would be a great honor for him as well as me to have this memorial tattoo to make it on the show.

I saw the request for tatt's in you newsletter and thought I'd submit mine. I got the first one (yellow ribbon) in June 2008 while my son was deployed to Iraq. I got the second one (Devil Dawgs) when he was home on post-deployment leave. Mind you, I was 44 and these are the only 2 I have. I waited until I found something that was special to me. So, I just thought I'd share!

Tattoo in memory of Sgt Sean H. Miles

In response to the History Channel's call for tattoos, I have attached a picture of a tattoo my husband got in memory of our son, Marine Sgt. Sean H. Miles who was killed in Al Karmah, Iraq on January 24, 2006, two weeks from coming home to his wife and 2 year old son.

Many thanks for forwarding this to the folks at the History Channel. Love your newsletter and catalogs. I've ordered a lot of Marine Corps swag since Sean enlisted in 1996. Still do! Again, many thanks!

Attached is a photo of my somewhat faded USMC Bulldog tattoo from somewhere in San Diego on my first liberty from recruit training at MCRD in early 1958 - Third Battalion, Platoon 303, DIs: T/Sgt Lewis, S/Sgt Schmitz, Sgt Mackey. The marine training and values last forever.

In Loving Memory of E.L. Rawlings Tattoo

Hello,

My Uncle heard about the series MARKED for the History Channel, and he immediately thought of me. I got this tattoo right after boot camp in September of 1999. When I received this tattoo, I stated that when my grandfather passed away, the man who inspired me to join the Marines, that I would get his name tattooed around it within the hour of finding out he had passed. That day came March 3, 2002. Within the hour I was in the tattoo parlor, in tears over his passing getting "In loving Memory E.L. Rawlings" around the bulldog.

My name is sgt. matthew chandler. i served with 2d scout plt and did 2 tours to iraq. the memorial tattoo was actually painted by my grandmother for my three fallen brothers. the second memorial tattoo is of my grandfather, pfc william r. mello (iwo jima), the main reason i joined the corps. the last is our platoon logo. i hope the resolution is of quality. all of the work was done by andrew pequitta at atomic ink in swansea, mass,. thank you sgt. grit and your staff for all the great things you do for the Marine Corps!!!

Although I came close to getting a similar tattoo one drunken night back in 1969 in San Diego ( I sobered up as I walked into the tattoo shop), this one was a birthday present from my wife and my son a few years ago (I was sober). Sgt. Major A.M. Solis, my uncle (now deceased), was was my hero and he had one similar to this one.
