Devil Dog Tattoo

Sgt. Grit,

After being out for almost ten years I finally got a tat that I felt I needed.

OOORAH and God Bless the Corps.

Old Corps Emblem Tattoo

Sgt. Grit,

My husband finally got his first Marine tat almost 8 years after being medically discharged and I wanted to share it with you. He tried to get alittle of the old corps EGA and the new corps EGA. The man who did his tat won a national title for the best overall backpiece and if I am remembering correctly it was the rifleman's creed. I hope that you like his tat design.

Sincerely Yours,
Lydia Manning, Marine Wife

Marine Corps Birthday November 10th, 2006

Dear Sgt. Grit,

Last Marine Corps Birthday (At which we always have a Marine Corps Birthday cake) it fell on the Friday before Veteran's Day. Our Boss allowed us to fly the Marine Corps Flag the entire day. We have many Dormant Marines and other service veterans who work here and we honor our veterans every Veteran's Day. We celebrated Veteran's Day on the morning of our beloved Marine Corps Birthday that year. It was so nice to see our flag fly so proudly for all to see. It flew in front of Cox Communications, Omaha, NE on November 10th 2006 in place of our company's flag. Long may it wave... right next to Old Glory and long may she wave in God's Glory

Semper Fi Sgt. Grit and thank you.

Fire Maltese Cross, with a Eagle Globe & Anchor Tattoo

Sgt Grit,

I'm forwarding a pic of my new tattoo. I used to have a bunch but had them all lasered off. But I had been wanting the emblem for some time. My last tour before I retired was at 8th & I and I really liked the emblem that the Barracks used in the 8th & I logo. So I used it as the design for my tattoo. I got it in Columbus, Ohio and if the Lima Company Marines here want the design, tell them to contact me at Peter.hoeft @ mindspring.com.

Vietnam 68 - 69 Tattoo

This is a tattoo acquired by a young just 18 year old just before deployment to the Northern I Corp. of Vietman in 1968, obtained in California. It is the best thing this Grunt ever did to honor the Corp. we served. We least not forget the ones we lost who gave all. Glad to have served, glad to have survived, glad to keep the memory alive for all of those that served.

Colored Emblem Tattoo

My name is Eddie. I have been the marines for two years and right after I got home out of bootcamp I wanted to get my first tatoo and I wanted it to be the eagle, globe, and anchor. I have sense gotten three others and am very proud of every single one but this is my favorite.

Eagle and USA Star Tattoo

Hello. Thought I would share this with you. I got this tattoo 4 years ago to honor my family and friends in the military, and the sacrifices they have made. My father was a USMC sniper in Vietnam. The tattoo was done by Jeff "Freebird" Stroud at his shop, The Edge, in Houghton, MI.

USMC EGA Tattoo

Not sure how to get my first tattoo pic posted but I think I have to email you….

This is my first after being out since May 1994. It’s been a long time coming and wish I had done it sooner!

John Wayne Tattoo

I had the opportunity of a lifetime on July 14, 1966, while serving with India Co 3rd Bn 9th Mar. out of An Hoa. when I met John Wayne. Although there is a story with this, it is somewhat embarrassing to relate to this day. Mr. Wayne gave me one of his business cards and on the back he wrote what is underneath his portrait. I have that business card after all of these years. Thanks to Tim at Custom Skin Art in Altoona, PA. for this fine work and the work he did on my other 5 tattoos. I really could not explain to my children all of my experiences from those days in Viet Nam and decided to use the art of tattoo to try and relate what words could not accomplish.

Eagle USMC Tattoo

I got this tattoo a year ago. I was in the Corps from 76-80 and it took me this long to get this one done. Over my heart is the location. When we are in we want out and nothing to do with the Crotch but years down the rode we change somehow and are so very proud to be a MARINE.

I have always loved being a MARINE.

OOOORRRRRRRRAAAHHHHHHHH

Marine Flag Tattoo

I've been out of the Crops for over 30 years and always wanted a tat to show my pride. I worked in a very dirty place and all cuts got infected. I retired last year after 30 years and got this a month later. I couldn't think of anything that said "Marine Corps" any louder than this!

Semper Fi Do or Die Tattoo

I have this tattoo on my right inner forearm. If you read the dark ink one way it will read Semper Fi and if I turn my arm the other direction the Light Ink will read Do Or Die. I came up with it, designed it and found someone good enough to put it on for me.

Iwo Jima Tattoo

Dear Sgt. Grit,

As a Marine ('73-'79) and the very proud father of a Marine, (Cpl Basch, T.F. currently serving his second tour in the Sandbox), I promised that I would get a tat to honor him. This was done by Peg at Lady Luck Tatoos, Canandaigua, New york. And just think it only took 29 years after my discharge to get it. Amazing what happens when your son becomes your hero!

Eagle, Globe, and Anchor Tattoo

I got my Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on Sept. 12, 2002 after graduating boot camp, and after serving in OIF 1 I designed my second tattoo to honor all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Without our honor, and respect for them, our Corps would be nothing.

Bio-Hazard Tattoo

This is a pictures of my husbands tattoo. He got it right before he left for Iraq this January 2007. I had been dying for him to get one since we met and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. We got one together! He is an NBC guy, so his friend designed a bio-hazard symbol and we placed the words death before dishonor around it. It is a moto tat for a moto marine. Moto Tattoos... Not Just for Marines?

I was reading about all the different things that were said about people who aren’t Marines getting "moto" tattoos. I love them. For a Marine wife it’s just as hard. Marine wife’s stands there by their Marines side the whole way and it’s not easy. Since I’m not a wife yet I can’t say "I" but I have there with my Marine before he was a Marine. I’m as "Moto" as anyone out there. My car says it all. I would love to have some simple EGA tattooed on my body with the phrase "standing by his side forever and always" somewhere on my body but for now Fidelis graces my side and on my marine’s side graces Semper. When we stand together it explains what we are and what the Marine Corp is to us…Always Faithful. Right now my always is miss from my side because he is on deployment in Iraq with 3/7 Lima Company but well be returning home to me again, so we can finally get married.

So I might not be a wife yet but anyway you look at it, the Marines is as much a part of me and as in any Marine that earns his EGA, only I didn’t spend 13 weeks in He*l, I’ve spend 2 years of on again off again that will keep going for the rest of my life.

I also wanted to say that I love and support any Marine helping to fight this war we are in. I’m from a marine family and I really do understand the whole circle. My great grandfather who served in WW II is the oldest Marine Vet. in Vancouver, Washington and we watch him ever year walk in the many parades we have. I lost two brothers in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2002, both where Marines. I love my family and not a single person within it has a negative thing to say about our boys (and girls) out there. We are always here supporting them.
