USMC Tattoo
This backpiece was done on Jeffrey R. Looman (82-86). It is a portrait of Ronald Reagan's prized stallion "El Alamein" given to him by the President of Mexico in 1981. The flag behind him represents our great country with the ever present globe and anchor on the lower left corner.
It was done as a tribute to the Marines who lost their lives in Beirut. Oct.23, 1983.

Marine Mom Tattoo
Hello everyone. I am a new Marine mom. My son PFC Gary, just finished his SOI training at Camp Pendleton on 1-5-06. He got his permanent duty station in Hawaii. He is in the 3/3 Lima Co. There is a chance that he may go over to Iraq, it terrifies me, but this is what he wants to do. I will be brave for him. I am extremely proud of him for joining the Marines, which are the toughest branch. I recently got a tattoo while he was home for Christmas, It says MOM mother of a marine. I told him that he will forever be a marine and I will forever be his mom. To all the fellow Marines who are over defending us, please keep your heads down and return safely, and a great big THANK YOU for serving our Country.
God Bless & Semper Fi,
Proud Marine Mom to PFC Gary

53 Years Later
Sgt Grit,
I served in the Marines from 1952 to 1960. Korean duty from '53-'55...over 16 months.
Never got a tattoo ... always wanted one...R&R in Japan and many liberties , and still no tattoos.
My youngest daughter,Taylor, asked why not? My answer was "waiting for a special occasion"
After a week at Parris Island with the Marine Corps League in May of 2005, and an article in your newsletter ...TATTOOS Volume II...EGA Tattoo - FINALLY...Thomas Carter, the time had come.
My daughter said she would give me a USMC Tattoo for my birthday, and i agreed. Grady Spades at Full Color Coverage in Annapolis , Maryland, did an excellent job tattooing an EGA on my arm at my shoulder ... on my 70th birthday August 17th , 2005
FINALLY , after 53 years...
Never too late...Once a Marine, always a Marine.

EGA Tattoo
Sgt. Grit.
I just got this a week after bootcamp, before headin of to SOI. It was done at a local place, Artistic Dermagraphics, the guy who did it, Drake, did one of the best jobs I've seen on an Eagle Globe and Anchor. It's absolutely stunning, I love it, and wear it proudly.

Sgt. Grit
I just got dropped from the comfort of boot camp into the craziness of the fleet Marine Corps. My drill instructors always told us if you are going to do something, do big, So I took the advice and did it big. I love this design (its yours). It’s the first of a couple of motto tats

41 Years in the making.
This tattoo is 41 years in the making, as I entered the Corps in 1964.
Figured I wouldn't have a chance at getting through the gates without
some ink.

USMC Tattoos
Sgt Grit,
I got out in 1990 and did not get my first Marine Corps Tat until
Easter of this year. It was a present from my wife who was also in the
Corps. That is how we met. I met her when she was a boot and I was on my way
out. The second one I did not wait as long I just got it on September 19th.
I love your site! Have recommended it to all the Jar Heads I work with. I
got my first personal K-Bar from you. Every Marine should have one!
The First one I got on my Left shoulder, I thought it was original until I
saw on similar on your site. The second I got on my calf, I think this one
is original, note the dog tags, one has my name the other is a tribute to my
Grandfather, who is a World War II Marine, he was a BAR man and was
decorated along with being wounded in Combat. John Carcia is my Grandfather.
Still as hard today as he was then. As the Tat states "Devildog, From the
Inside Out!" IT NEVER LEAVES YOU!!!!!
God Bless Sgt. Grit and God Bless The United States Marine Corps

USMC Tattoo
Attached is a recent tattoo of our beloved Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. I love this version and even though I've been inactive for 20+ years, during these turbulent times I felt the need to show what side of the fence I was on.

My tattoo wasn't USMC related yet because I haven't found the perfect one yet but as soon as I do I will send you a photo of it as well.

Gear Tattoo
Hello Sgt. Grit,
My husband is a Cpl is the Marines and we've always liked looking at the
Marine tattoos on your site. Here is a picture of a recent tattoo he has. It
isn't Marine related but it does relate to his MOS in the Marines. It's a
tattoo of gears inside his arm and he works on helicopters.

USN/USMC Tattoo
Just wanted to post my tattoo for all to view. I’m a Navy guy that’s been attached to the Marines since 1995 and I feel a great sense of loyalty to them. As your motto and my tattoo reads, I will always be faithful to the United States Marine Corps and to the Navy. I am currently serving with the Marines in Camp Fallujah, Iraq. I wouldn’t go to war with anyone else!! Oorah!

Father and Son Tattoos
Sgt Grit:
I had the distinct honor to witness my son earn the title United States
Marine on 12-Aug-05 at MCRD Parris Island. Without my knowledge my son
joined the our beloved Corps in the delayed entry program on 27-Feb-05
exactly 30 years to the day that his old man had enlisted. He now leaves
for Camp Lejeune for infantry training. He and I had this tattoo done in
recognition that we are "Father*Son*and now Brothers..."
Not as lean, Not as mean, but still a Marine.

EGA and Barbed Wire Tattoos
My husband and I decided that after he returned from Iraq this past time, we would get our "last" tattoos together. While in 29 Palms, we found an artist that was just awesome! I thought I would share what we ended up with. My husband got his on his upper arm, while I chose my lower back.
