Fire and EGA, and Once A Marine Tattoo

Flame EGA Tattoo Once A Marine Tattoo Dear Sgt. Grit,

In February you posted a letter my daughter had written for your newsletter. I was quite surprised to read it as I didn't know she had submitted one to you. She talked about how she was leaving for PI in a few weeks and how "freakin motivated" she was. I just wanted to let you know and those who replied to her letter and encouraged her that she is now a Marine. She graduated from PI on 5/6/05. The EGA ceremony was inspirational and emotional for the new Marines (many of whom were crying, men and women) as was most of the audience.

The day she graduated within a few hours she wanted to get her first tattoo. We had to drive to Georgia to get it though as South Carolina doesn't have tattoo parlors. I am sending you a picture of the one she got that day and of the one she got a week later. She truly is motivated and so very proud of herself and the Corps.

While in boot camp we could see the change in her attitude and maturity through her letters. She has done a lot of growing up in a very short time. We are so very proud of her. And we are pleased to have such a new and large extended family of Marines. OOHRAH!

Coming Home Present

Eagle, Globe, and Anchor Tattoo I am a marine wife. In May of 2004 I found out that I was pregnant with my son. A few days after that my husband(Cpl. Greer, Joseph USMC) was activated for deployment. He was deployed 2 1/2 months later. He was on the phone talking to me while I was in labor. That was an interesting conversation to say the least. I had planed to get a tattoo for my 20th birthday, but I was pregnant at the time. So one week before Joseph came home I got my tattoo. He was a little shocked that I did it. Alex was five weeks old when they finally met. To show my love and support for my husband, I had it written permanently on my back. Anyway here is a picture of my tattoo.

Eagle, Globe, and Anchor Tattoo - FINALLY

My name is Thomas Carter And I was stationed at MCSFCO Naples form 1995-1998. While over seas I couldn't find a good artist to do an Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. Well, Here it is 7 years later and I finally got it. I have other Marine Corps tats, but this is the one that I always wanted. I had it done by Eric at full color coverage in Annapolis, MD. I would recommend him to anyone.

Death Before Dishonor

Sgt. Grit,
I got this tattoo while in Engineering School (1345, Heavy Equipment Operator) at Camp Lejeune in ’88. It is actually two tats. The EGA was done first and about a month later went back and had the U.S.M.C. added underneath it. So, at the time it was probably a unique tat. I was with 9th ESB, III MEF in Okinawa and participated in the joint US/S. Korea Op “Team Spirit” and was TAD there for 6 months before returning to Okinawa. From there I went to 2nd LSB, 2nd FSSG at Camp Lejeune and then was TAD to MSSG-24, 24 MEU in the Med during Operation Desert Storm and was part of Operation Provide Comfort in Turkey and Northern Iraq afterward. To all the Devil Dogs in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere in the world, God speed and hurry home. Once a Marine, Always a Marine. Semper Fi.

USMC Tattoo

Sgt Grit, here's my new tattoo finished up last week by MIKE, one of the best out of Hawaii. He basically did this USMC BULLDOG freehand from a similar tattoo I found on a USMC website. He of course added our American Flag and the camo is bad ass. SEMPER FI
