The Tattoo

tattoo

In 1995 I was diagnosed with terminal Cancer and given 4-6 months to live. As my wife and I talked about the things we wished we had done and what to do with what was left I said I wished I had gotten a tattoo when I was in. My wife told me, get one there's time. I said, we'll fight this thing and if I live to be 60 I'll get one for my birthday.

I've been Cancer free for five years and had a tattoo there.

Khe Sanh Pictures

Here is a picture of 3rd Recon hooch. Thought you might like to have it even though it is Bravo CO. Also air drop in 1967. I have a few more pictures on slides that I am going to have put on a cd, so I can scan and send to the Khe Sanh vets home page if he wants them.

Do you remember 3 of the air delivery team members that jumped on the first air drops were killed because their chutes didn't open?

Phu Bai Recon Team

This is my recon team in 1969 outside the ammo bunker in Phu Bai, waiting for a chopper to pick us up and haul our sorry tails into the Ashau Valley. That was probably the hairiest place I've been in my life, but incredibly beautiful. I'd love to see it now.

Standing L to R:
Welbaum, Kirkendall, Doc Montgomery, Kennedy (team leader).

Kneeling L to R:
Cox, Gonzales, and 19 year old me, Tom Wilson.

Picture of me,
Tom Wilson, 3rd Force Recon Co. in Quang Tri, after a nasty patrol in the DMZ.
